Original Home of Goodman Theater
Facing Columbus Drive, adjacent to the Art Institute
The original Goodman Theater has a very intimate, beautifully designed auditorium. There simply is not a bad seat in the house. The above photo shows the classic entryway, which has been badly obscured by the addition of a modernistic awning covering the walk and driveway. The theater itself is below ground level, and you can just make out the roofline to the left of the photo above. The staircase immediately inside the front doors lead you downstairs to the theater level.
